Garmarna (Sweden)
Garmarna have taken their
name after the wolf that according to the Nordic mythology lives
underground. Garmarna mix
traditional folk music instruments with samples and they produce an
unconventional and innovative music. It’s raw, heavy and sweaty – with
all the force that lives in the sounds and rhythms of folk music.
They made their international breakthrough in ’95 with album "Guds
Spelmän" (Gods Fiddlers) and US critic Chuck Young proclaimed them as
full-fledged ETLCTFG's (Exceptionally Transcendent, Life-Changing
Thunderbolts From God). Garmarna are now preparing for their first
studio recordings since the 2001 album with interpretations of the texts
and music of Hildegard von Bingen.
