ETHNO 2004
July 10th - 17th 2004

The 15th annual international folk music camp ETHNO will take place July 10 - 17 2004 in Falun, Sweden. Over the years it has become an important meeting place for a new generation of folk musicians and influenced many young people from all over the world. Every year there are musicians from around 10-12 different countries, from Europe, Africa, Asia and America.

ETHNO is based on workshops, where the participants teach each other. The teaching and learning will mainly be by ear, but written music can be used for support. ETHNO is not based on performances, but you will have the opportunity to present your music and what you’ve learned by participating at some concerts, evening dances and street performances.

ETHNO welcomes all instruments including vocal traditions. All participants will get practise in adapting their music to other instruments than their own. You have to be between 16 and 25 years of age to apply.

ETHNO 2004 is arranged in Falun, a town 250 km northwest of Stockholm, in co-ordination with the annual major folk- and world music festival there.

The ETHNO 2004 instructors are:
SAM PIRT - English accordeonist, member of ex-Ethno band 422, and voted cutest leader in 2003...
SOFIA JOONS - Estonian fiddle player with a very positive approach to life and music...
LEO SVENSSON - Swedish folk cello player with a classical background...
BOSSE NORDENFELDT - Swedish double bass player with Orientexpressen, the artistic leader and a father not only for his own children but also for Ethno.
ALLAN SKROBE - Guitarist and singer from the south of Sweden but with his heart in Haiti.
