ROMANO DROM (Hungary)

Romano Drom,
which means "gypsy road" in Romani language, resides in Budapest at the crossroads of east and west.

Romano Drom was formed by father and son, and reflects both tradition and modernity. The power of their traditional music is in the voices and vocal games but also the use of romani language.

Anti (Antal Kovács Jr), solo and rhythm guitar, vocals, started out playing music at the age of ten in a children's group, which later became the renowned Ando Drom. Co-founder of Romano Drom along with his father, he does all the arrangements and compositions of Romano Drom, using Tsollar, Lovar, Beash and Romanian melodies, to create an original and personal repertoire, influenced by his passion for Spanish music, but also his interest for Arab music.

Gojma (Antal Kovács), vocals, spoons and dance, has an unique raw voice  transmitting the proper Oláh traditional way of singing.

Joco (József Balogh), vocals, guitar, started playing music alone, waiting patiently for a group that would suite him. His first meeting with Anti was the result of a dream, and the beginning of a warmth collaboration.

Csika (Zsigmond Rafael), aluminium can, vocal bass and dance, is a childhood friend of Anti, he plays on the can, uses what is called "vocal bass", an Oláh speciality, and interprets the wooden stick dance.

A special guest this visit is the fantastic Zoli (Zoltán Orosz) on accordion.
