EILEEN IVERS & IMMIGRANT SOUL (USA)

She's been called a "sensation" by Billboard magazine and "the Jimi Hendrix of the violin" by The New York Times. Eileen Ivers will certainly change the way you think about the violin.

Eileen is steeped in tradition. Growing up as the daughter of Irish immigrants, her unique understanding of Irish traditional music was solidified by age ten when she first represented the U.S. in the All-Ireland fiddle championships. Eileen proceeded to win that title nine times, a tenth on tenor banjo.
As an Irish-American raised in an ethnically diverse Bronx neighbourhood, Eileen was forever intrigued by the multicultural sounds of her childhood environs.

The ongoing development of Eileen's globally-infused, traditional Irish sound has received international critical acclaim since the late 80's. Her magnificent talent and explorative nature have led to an amazing array of accomplishments including headline tours, recording credits on over 80 contemporary and traditional albums, numerous movie scores, and affiliations with the London Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony at The Kennedy Center, Boston Pops, the musical star of Riverdance, The Chieftains, Paula Cole, Patti Smith, Hall and Oates, and Cherish the Ladies. As a result, Eileen Ivers has established herself as the pre-eminent exponent of the Irish fiddle in the world today.

In 1999, Eileen formed a touring troupe in New York City to present her signature sound - Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul -  which encompasses Irish instrumentalists, soulful American vocals and a mix of African and Latin percussion and bass.
