ANDERS ROSÉN (Sweden)

Anders Rosén
is a Swedish fiddler who has earned a very special and noble kind of patina and veteran status in the rank of present day respected fiddlers.

He stepped into the arena in the early 70-ties and has ever since been a source of wonderful music and occasional provocations.

People who enjoy dancing the very Swedish "polska" have always enjoyed his fiddling and he has inspired uncountable numbers of youths to pick up fiddling, indeed many today claim him as their role model amongst fiddlers. On occasion those who prefer a more sedentary life style and prefer staying within the established grooves have been less enthusiastic.

Anders, who sometimes trades fiddling for horn blowing, enjoys both "experimental" and "traditional" folk music, perhaps not all the time making major distinctions between the two.

He has played with, and learnt from, most of the old generation of Swedish fiddling legends.  When he feels like it, this enables him to execute tunes in various dialects of fiddle styles.

He is also the driving force behind the oldest af Swedish record labels for traditional music, Hurv.
