Overtone
Singing
Since many centuries the mystical overtone singing is an important part
of the music culture in Tibet, Tuva, North India, Japan, China and some
parts in Africa.
Mostly it is used in connection with spiritual aspects
of life, however in the Mongolian tradition overtone melodies are used
in folk music. With patience, everybody can learn this special voice
technique. This enables you to sing two intervals simultaneously, that
means in a polyphonic way. Since the vibrations of the overtones are
very pure, they often sound like whistle ore flute sound - sometimes
also like a synthesiser. Shamans often refer to mystical birds in connection
to overtone singing.
It's a spectacular experience to listen two tones
from your own throat!
The workshop is open for singers and musicians, but also for all people
whom are seriously interested in working with the voice. We'll work
without esoteric ballast on the micro cosmos of the human voice and
the body, the theoretic essentials and we'll also exercise in a church,
because overtones unfold depending on special acoustics (echo).
