Fiddle Playing for Adult Beginners

Of course you can learn to play the fiddle even if you're a grown-up! You will not be an accomplished folk-musician after just a couple of days, but you'll get a great start and asolid base to build upon.

This is a complete beginner's course. You'll learn by ear, so there is no need to have skills in reading sheet music. If you don't have your own fiddle, we can make arrangements for you to borrow or rent one here.

Instructor: Jonas Hjalmarsson - A fiddler firmly based in the musical traditions of Sweden's Dalecarlia region, and especially the villages of Älvdalen and Orsa. Jonas studied at The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and works as a fiddle teacher at the folk high school in Malung. A veteran instructor at the festival, he regularly teaches special courses like this one all over Sweden.
