Folk music on Recorder

Course Description:
Playing tunes and folk songs on the recorder using learning by ear methods. We’ll focus especially on tunes from Haverö, Sweden, including the Kring polskas (Kringpolskor) and Sen polskas (Senpolskor). We will also learn how to do arrangements by ear. Students will even get the chance to try playing the Härjedal’s flute (Härjedalspipa).

Course goal:
Participants will learn about style and technique, repertoire, and above all else be inspired to develop their own style of playing.

Participants:
This course is for musicians, music students or amateurs but not for beginners. You should also be able to play recorders of different sizes.

Please bring more than one recorder to the course – in fact, each person should bring along as many recorders as possible!.
