Polska - A very Swedish dance

Are you curious to learn this stepping and spinning Swedish dance but don't know where to start? Maybe you've even tried it once or twice and been discouraged or maybe you just think it's too hard to learn? Well, forget it! In this class you going to be guided with ease and knowledge into the world of polska. Take a chance and let yourself go in the music and rhythm. We promise you'll love it.

This class teaches the fundamentals of the polska to beginners or those who can already dance polska and want to develop their style more. We won't be working with a lot of different polska variations, rather the focus for the course is the actual dancing, i.e. dancing with a partner, sensitivity towards the partner, technique, expression and balance between dance and music.
The instructor is Bernt Persson - lecturer in folk dance at the Academy of Dance, leader of the Swedish Folk Dance Ensemble 1981- 1992 and also a dancer in Virvla. Bernt started with folk dance in 1965 and took his first polska course in 1966! The music is provided by fiddler Jeanette Jansson.
