Artists 2001 A Magic Night at Stångtjärn Based on ancient traditions and techniques in singing and playing on cow horns, a very unique musical experience gathers thousands of people every summer from all over the world. A beautiful summer night. Some bonfires reflect in the water’s surface. The quiet murmur of the thousands of people that have gathered around the lake in the dark, they are at the festival’s biggest concert hall. Then you hear them calling. This primal call, that all singing is based upon. And you hear the sound of the horns. Everything else is silent. The concert at Stångtjärn is based on the oldest form of communication. This primitive form of communicating turned into music, which still wields its enormous power, even today. Wherever you stand around the lake, you will find your own space of music. The sound and the echo may vary but the experience will blow you away in any case. It may seem simple enough, but that’s just the thing. The herding music around Stångtjärn is considered a classic and it is famous way beyond the borders of Sweden. This year you will hear the voices of Agneta Stolpe, Eva Rune, Kersti Ståbi and Anders Larsson and you will hear the sound of the horns played by Anna Aronsson, Pelle Pettersson, John-Erik Eggens and Berndt Lindström. There will be buses going to and from the lake departing from Slätta Centrum and Dalarnas Museum starting at 21.00 and the last bus will leave at 22.45 | Thursday Stångtjärn 23.00 |
