Shooglenifty - Scotland

The six members of Shooglenifty have developed their very own version of Celtic folk music, a creation that they have christened Acid Croft.

This is "feel-free" music, rather than cozy "feel-good" music. Compromising and mainstream music will not do for these rowdy rebels from Edinburgh, that have turned many rock and folk music stages all over the world upside down. The band, led by the incomparable fiddler Angus Grant, managed to start a hysterical dancing riot inside the famous Sydney Opera House. The crowd was surprised and delighted – the staff was surprised too, but not delighted…

"Shooglenifty could teach Oasis a thing or two about breaking rules without breaking any good will…" is what one of the local papers wrote about that particular evening.

No matter what you prefer to call it – this is traditional music played by masters in a joyful and exciting way.

Those of you who saw and heard Shooglenifty here in Falun in ’97 will agree!

Welcome back, lads!
