Plastic Paddy is an Irish seven-piece band from Dalarna. Anyone who has ever been to the Falun Folk Music Festival probably knows who they are, because this is the fifth year that they will be playing their jigs, reels and ballads. Plastic Paddy was formed in Falun in 1988 by four of the former members of Gothenburg's Ceili Band, a couple of people from Falun that were totally crazy about Ireland, an Irishman who lost his way and an Englishman who just didn't have the sense to leave after one of the previous festival editions. The group consists of Magnus Hellsing, flute and whistle; Eva Kvarnström, accordion and piano; Svante Nordlander, fiddle and mandolin; Eamonn O’Reilly, vocals, guitar and jokes of varying quality (he is also the band’s alibi for calling it an Irish band); Andrew Scott, sounds and calling; Erik Westholm, flute and Jan Åslund, fiddle and drums. | Saturday The Blue Stage 00.00 |
