Pelle Björnlert & Johan Hedin - Sweden

Two musicians from Småland, a fiddle and a keyed fiddle.

Pelle Björnlert from Vråka in north eastern Småland plays songs that he learned when he played with master fiddler Bengt Löfberg in the 1970’s. The two travelled around the country and played with the few old fiddlers that were still alive. They have continued their search through old recordings and sheet music.

Pelle is a riksspelman - National Fiddler - and he has been given the award Zornmärket, and he strives to play varied and playful dance music.

Johan Hedin is also a riksspelman although he plays the keyed fiddle. He is an innovator who has taken the keyed harp music a couple of steps further – both through his playing and his compositions and arrangements. He is even working on developing the instrument itself. A brilliant musician who plays with Triptyk, Bazar Blå, and the Stockholm Folk Big Band with Ale Möller and Jonas Knutsson, and many other folk music projects.
