Artists 2001
The members live in Edinburgh and they play the full range of Scottish folk music, drawing their influences from the length and breadth of Scotland. From the Hebrides and the Highlands in the north to the Lowlands and Glasgow in the south. Since the middle of the nineties they have filled arenas on every big Celtic music festival and event. They have shown the way to the traditional Scottish music for a new and young audience. Deaf Shepherd show how green the grass is at home at the Scottish farm. Even though the hills may remain the same, the grass on them will always be new and fresh. Six extremely talented instrumentalists use the whole range of emotions and moods in everything from divinely intoxicating jigs and reels, through majestic Highland pipe marches, to slow and dewy airs and ballads. They strive towards authenticity, towards a pure and simple tone and an undistorted sound. The group consists of Malcolm Stitt, bouzouki, Mark Maguire, bodhran, Clare McLaughlin, fiddle, John Morran, vocals and guitar, Marianne Campbell, fiddle and Rory Campbell, bagpipes and whistles. | Saturday Dance Hall 20.00 |
