Heavenly beauty doesn’t always have its feet off the ground! Just listen to Capercaillie from Scotland! This world famous Celtic music collective plays a melodic and dreamy kind of folk-rave, never forgetting their roots, coming from the Celidh tradition in the North West of Scotland. Karen Matheson is a highly respected singer from this particular area and her crystal clear voice finds its strength in what her grandmother taught her about the singing style on the Outer Hebrides. Capercaillie mixes 400-year-old songs and instruments with modern music technology and a refined sense for pop-music qualities. The group has written the soundtrack to many famous motion pictures for example Rob Roy, starring Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange. Capercaillie consists of Donald Shaw, Manus Lunny (Ireland), Charlie McKerron, John Saich et al. They are all among the most eminent and famous musicians of contemporary Celtic folk rock. One reviewer wrote the following as a summary of the band’s acclaimed album released last year, Beautiful Wasteland: "Heavy, dynamic dancehall beats, bouncy bass playing and a singer whose voice is warm and serene." You’ll have to decide for yourselves whether this is true or not! You won’t be making that decision standing still – that’s for sure! | Saturday Main Stage 23.00 |
