ETHNO WELCOMES
all instruments including vocal traditions.All participants will get practice in adapting their music to other
instruments than their own.
THE 11TH
annual international folk music camp Ethno will take place in the summer of
2000.
Over the years it has become an important meeting place for a new generation of folk
musicians and influenced many young people from all over the world.
ETHNO IS BASED ON WORKSHOPS,
where the participants teach each other. The teaching and learning will mainly be by ear,but
written music can be used for support. Ethno is not based on performances,but you
will have the opportunity to present your music and what you´ve learned by participating
at some concerts,evening dances and street performances.
FALUN FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL
The closing event of Ethno 2000 takes place during the famous Falun Folk Music Festival
(July 12 –15),an international folk music festival with 500 top artists from 40 nations
and more than 70 000 enthusiastic visitors!
WORKSHOPS
At Ethno you can always meet musicians from all parts of the world – the last few years from Africa,Asia,Europe,
Russia and of course Scandinavia.
PARTICIPATION FEE
for non-Nordic participants: 120 USD.The fee includes workshops,excursions,lodging and
all meals during Ethno,starting from lunch on Thursday,July 6, ending with lunch on Thursday,July 13,plus lodging from
Wednesday night and during the Falun Folk Music Festival for those who want to stay on!
Meals or concert tickets during the Falun Folk Music Festival are not included.You must also pay your travel expenses to
Falun.
Ethno-participants from countries within Eastern Europe and developing countries may apply for a scholarship for Ethno.
